It may just be a reading with music in the background. But it talks about no greater love than this that he lay down his life for a friend. It seems the native helped the man and then maybe he was killed. It may have been by Stuart Hamlin. I haven't heard it in years, but would love to know the words. |

The person relating the message may have been injured in the war and was found my an Aborigines and protected from the enemy. That is the only tribe I remember reading about who wore bones through their nose. It may have been a religious song since it referes to No Greater Love Than This. I do not remember any of the exact words, just the "story" of the song. |

Growing up I was always interested in war songs and stories . I believe that I was about 9 when my grandfather gave me a 78 with this song on it. I knew the words by heart. He told be that it was about a man who was cared for by a native who found him injured. I do not believe that it was Hank Snow singing it but don’t remember. I have heard Hank Snow version on Utube and it just doesn’t sound the same Unfortunately, I tucked this record into a LP album and then the album was sold by mistake at a yard sale. |

It does indeed sound like Stuart Hamblen,(hard to mistake that voice) but i can't be positive. I also have the Hank Snow version but that is different.I can't seem to find out if Stuart did a recording of this or not. |
