BS: Backdoor leads to front door

Now that's strange. It used to be that when I went into the Cat by the back door, I couldn't get into my personal stuff etc, but this morning Mudcat was down so I went in through the back door and, as usual, wasn't logged in. I clicked on members info and, to my surprise, got in. Then noticed that my PM alert was up. Read my new PM and replied...under my Mudcat name without 'guest' and without actually logging in. Went back to the forum to find that I was now in the main Mudcat site, not the back door. never come across this before...

Love Lynne

The links on the backdoor pages are inconsistant. The ones on the banner and the quicklinks are given as absolute URLs pointing to http://www.mudcat.org... and the ones to open the threads are given as relative URLs (the link will add http://www.mudcat.org or http://207.103.108.99 depending on which server you are on).

If you are using the bacdoor and try to get to membership, If the front door is up you will get in, otherwise it will fail. Some links from the backdoor do need to be given as an absoulte link as the page doesn't exist on "99" but others don't and would be better given as relative links,

An example is http://207.103.108.99/forumsearch.cfm (old forum search) which exists and works on the back door. The problem is if you are using the back door as the front door is down, the quick links will take you to the server that is down instead of taking you to the perfectly functional copy on the back door.

Well I always get in via my own page cresby.com mainly because it is my home page and I don't have to dial-up to see my site (in case of phone calls asking about.....)

My cookie is always active - unless I delete all cookies.

Just checked - I hyperlink to http://www.mudcat.org/threads.cfm.

Why not set this as yer favourite (or cresby.com)
