I'm thinking of learning the Northumbrian Pipes.I play Whistles and i'm wondering if i will find it confusing, as the method of fingering is different. Has anyone got any advise.

Hi Webby,

Not sure about Northumbrian, but uilleann piping fingering is completely different to the whistle (so I assume Northumbrian is too). There are books available to help you learn.

I tried playing a friend's set once and when you have more than one hole open all the air rushes out in one whoosh! - rather disconcerting if you're used to a whistle...no, they're not the same!
