17 Feb 97 - 09:29 PM (#2325) Subject: Daniel Jazz/Se Morag From: catfeet@ici.net Help! Someone somewhere must know something! I have been looking for the words to these 2 songs now for going on probably 10-13 years. The titles are The Daniel Jazz, which I sung as a child in junior high chorus, and is the story of daniel in the lions den in 4 parts. (I also would like the tune/music/where could I get a copy of the tune on paper to this one) The other is called She Morag (definately phonetically spelled), and I heard this one on The Thistle and Shamrock about 1985. It was done all in Gaelic, and it was about Morag's wedding. Any help/leads would be appreciated. Thanks. Catfeet There's a problem with my email. I can be reached at Incubus@ici.net

Also, the words are from a poem, circa 1920. Some further information is at Planet Peschel's Annotation of "Gaudy Night"

"Old man Ahab leaves his card. Elisha and the bears are a-waiting in the yard. Here comes Pharaoh and his snakes a-calling. Here comes Cain and his wife a-calling. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego for tea. Here comes Jonah and the whale, And the Sea! Here comes St. Peter and his fishing pole. Here comes Judas and his silver a-calling. Here comes old Beelzebub a-calling." thanks Rita |
