BS: Watch out, Donuel

I didn't get to this all day, and was surprised no one, so far as I can find, brought this up. It was on television this morning. I came in in the middle of the segment, so I wish I had more of the specifics to give here. An art galley hung an exhibit with some inflammatory anti-Bush art. The secret service showed up, taking artists names and demanding information on them. Anyone got more of the location or details on this?
Just because you're paranoid, that doesn't prove they're not really out to get you...I'm thinking of going to bed now and having a nice nightmare or two.

Donuel is safe... I've seen his work.. it ain't art... it's crap...

I've seen more creativity smeared on asylum walls...

There are 'reasons' you do not see either my larger works or cartoons anymore, but they are my own.

I have tangled with Secret Service in my home before. I have had N.I and CIA pay numerous visits. But that was all during the Reagan administration. Some of it was nasty as well as illeagal but compared to the alternative it was a pleasure to fight for liberty and against tyranny.

I was 5 years old when I first saw films of the holocaust. I have witnessed atrocities of other countries and my own.
Even if I were the only person to warn of the dangers of holocausts past present and future, I would do as I have done or more.

Good man, Don.

Not only is Don a world-class artist, but he's also one helluva poet, too. Read "Nearing Winter's End" sometime. It's beautiful.

that Arnie movie poster was just an awful cheap change of title.

The 2 Arnie cartoons that were voted most popular were...

Arnie vs. the girlie men

Other than CA not seeing any of the money ripped off by ENRON and the power companies, Arnie hasn't been as bad as I thought even though his loophole election was scandalous.

brucie, art is a nice hobby and cartoons are a grin but I hardly think its worldclass.
I forgot entirely about Nearing Winter's End however it is true that for whatever reason I can virtually not remember verbatim anything I write.
After I wrote that Winter/Spring piece I was told by a trusted poet that I should stick exclusively to writing about nature.
In retrospect I believe you are right that Nearing Winter's End might be the best of them all. Thanks for reminding me.

Don,

I have been a fan of your art, poetry and thinking ever since I was fortunate enough to encounter it here about two years ago.

I will not argue with you about your views of your art or writing; artists are all a bit tetched anyway. But I think it's world class. Thanks for the links, buddy.

1. Remind me never to ask Clinton Hammond to jury an art exhibit.
2. If you haven't, follow Bee-dub's link to the couple who were taken away in handcuffs for wearing "dissent" t-shirts; nothing implying threat or violence whatever.
3. A question; I'm asking this straight up, face value, not rhetorically: Do any of you know of any comparable suppression of dissent under recent Democratic administrations?
4. Hat off to you, Donuel; carry it on.

To Donuel and every other artist who dares to speak up... Thank-you! The Americans I remember were never butt-kissers. Artists aren't either.

I dunno - I'm never going to the USA now.

If I get lost in Washington, I'm likely to have some testosterone soaked gun toting nutters tackle me blow up my dirty underwear!

Thanks for this thread and thanks, Don, for continuing to sahre with us and to keep up the artistic voice for so many. I've always loved your work.

I find the linked articles about the Secret Service to be chilling. Have any of you read info on BOLTON the guy shrub wants to be our next UN Ambassador? Scary...one of Jesse Helms' people who once said if the UN "lost 10 stories" (the building) he didn't think it'd be a problem. One of his own former US State Sept. Intelligence employees called him "an 800 pound gorilla" who basically bulldozes ANYONE who doesn't agree with him.

Donuel seems to be the only one who has posted so far that is on the government's "favorite people" list. Are the rest of you just being bashful? Donuel, with great pride, wears his credentials as a protestor on his sleeve. I rather admire that. Do the rest of you just post your concerns on the Mudcat where your peers can pat you on the back? As Bobert would say, hummmmmmm?
