                             Born 4/28/1918
  

Died 7/31/1943 on the island of New Georgia, Solomons, South Pacific, while singlehandedly attacking and destroying an enemy machine-gun pillbox. His bold and gallant action in the face of overwhelming odds enabled his teammates to escape without loss; he was awarded posthumously the Medal of Honor.

          Shines the name---Rodger Young!
          Fought and died for the men he marched among.
          To the everlasting glory of the Infantry
          Lives the story of Private Rodger Young.

Any (other) Heinlein fans in Mudcat? In the early chapters of Starship Troopers, this is one of the songs mentioned; for years I thought it was one he had made up (like some of Rhysling's titles) till I met an Army veteran who knew the chorus.
Frank Loesser sure does get around, doesn't he? he also wrote "Baby It's Cold Outside"
