From: YorkshireYankee A friend of mine from the US has a lengthy stop-over at Heathrow the evening of Saturday, 30 April and leaving the next morning -- May 1st. I'm planning to head to London (by train) to get together with her. She's a folkie too, and I think she'd enjoy a proper English May Day celebration with Morris Dancers, etc. The tricky bit is, she'll have to be back at Heathrow by 10 am, so it would need to be one of those crack-of-sparrow-fart sunrise type celebrations. Anyone know of any? If so, how gettable-to would they be using public transport? Is there anything easily accessible for someone taking the tube? Many thanks! |

Unfortunately, they all seem to be afternoon things (except for the one where you have to give your mobile no. so you can be alerted an hour before the event takes place). I will confess I had Morris dancing in mind more than political demonstrations/events... |

You need to find a local side and find out what they are doing. I can tell you what East Saxon Sword are doing (East London)... they'll be tucked up in their respective pits and waiting til a sensible time to go to Rochester! LTS |

From: manitas_at_work There's a Jack in the Green at the Borough (southern end of London Bridge) on Sunday but it will be at a sensible time and probably too late for your friend but for anyone else interested here's a link http://www.gre.ac.uk/~cs02/deptfordjackinthegreen.html |
