BS: Anniversary of War

I was listening to some of Tom Lehrer's songs and on the intro of So Long Mom he talks about it being the anniversary of various wars,{it must have been 1965}.
This got me thinking.
2005
200th anniversary Trafalgar,
190th anniversary Waterloo,
140th anniversary end of the war of northern aggresion,[American civil war]
90th anniversary Gallipoli,
60th anniversary end WWII,
30th anniversary end of Vietnam war
Anybody think of any more.

for some reason you wrote:

We call it the Civil War. Losers don't get to name the war!

I call it "The Late Unpleasantness."

How about the 60th anniversary of the Trinity Shot and all that followed?

Actually, its the War of the Rebellion; southerners, by taking up arms against the U.S. Government committed treason according to the Constitution. But why let facts get in the way of a good story...

Hmmm, the original thirteen colonies break away from Britain because they feel they were being oppressed and that Government was not in keeping with their aspirations and yet sought to deny the Southern states the same rights under similar conditions.

Not quite analogous, not similar conditions, and stated overly simplistically. Plus do give the Constitution a quick read whilst you're stirring. ;>)

In the south it's usually called "The War Between the States." Yankees call it the Civil War. These other names are new to me.

only in the south?

NY state textbooks called it 'war between the states' during the 1960's
