04 May 05 - 10:53 PM (#1478465) Subject: RE: BS: Objections to Job Offers From: Azizi Okay, I get the play on Joe Offer's name, but I thought this thread was going to be about people turning down legitimate offers of employment. I recently was asked to apply for an executive position job [by someone who theorectically could have made sure I'd get the job]. But that job would have been all wrong for me. I thought about it, and prayed over it, and-to paraphrase a once overused folk saying- 'I just said no'. I knew that if I had taken that job, I would have ended up drained and crazy. So I don't regret it at all. Here's another New African proverb that speaks to this: "[If you have a choice]It's better to struggle financially doing what you love than to spend your life energies working a job that doesn't suit you." 05 May 05 - 12:27 AM (#1478516) Subject: RE: BS: Objections to Job Offers From: Joe Offer Well, I retired in 1999 and thought I'd never work again. But I got a job offer last week to work as a lay minister, and most likely I'll take it. It sounds like a good opportunity to do a number of things I've wanted to do. Shouldn't interfere with my Mudcat or family time much. I wouldn't want to miss out on the Wit and Wisdom of Sh---les. -Joe Offer- |

05 May 05 - 08:21 AM (#1478672) Subject: RE: BS: Objections to Job Offers From: Azizi "Work" is a four letter word. Well, sometimes work is good, it just depends on the type of work. **** Joe, since you had mentioned in another thread that you have been voluntarily performing some of the functions of a lay minister for a while, it seems as though officially working in that capacity will be ideal for you. Congratulations!! |
