Dwight Yoakum has done a really wonderful cover of this song on his CD, approprietly titled, UNDER THE COVERS, on which he covers some of his favorite tunes. He does wonderful renditions of the following: Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues Here Comes The Night Train In Vain Baby Don't Go (with Sheryl Crowe) Witchita Lineman Playboy (The buck Owens tune) The Last Time (stones) and a bunch more |

06 May 05 - 05:38 PM (#1479665) Subject: RE: north to alaska origin From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Beer, he was one of my favourites as well. I heard a song, by Claude King, on the radio. Several years later, I found Claude King's cassette with the song as the title cut. I was SO disappointed when I got the tape home and it was JAMMED. Couldn't for the life of me get it going. Of course, it was one of those ultrasonically welded ones, so you couldn't even take it apart and put the tape spools into another body! Well, I took it back to the store, but they didn't have another copy. To this date, the song remains a fond memory, but I would love to hear I Remember Johnny, by Claude King, who apparently was a great friend of Johnny Horton! |
