13 May 05 - 02:12 PM (#1484312) Subject: BS: Anyone had a hot stone massage? From: jimmyt I can anticipate the humourists beginning with " no, my hot stones do not need massaged" or some such banter, but I just had to mention this. I have had many massages over the last few years, and they do feel really neat and they are somewhat relaxing and possibly therapeutic to some folks. Some massage therapists are more talented than others and normally that adds to the enjoyment. What I wanted to say that my staff purchased a hot stone massage for my birthday and I just went in today for it. Kathleen, one of the regular therapists, did it and I have had her before so it was not the person as much as the technique. First, she arranged a series of hot pebbles 3-4 inches in diameter somewhat flat, on the table under a towel and had me lay back on this. When she described it I thought it sounded like torture but it felt terrific. Then she proceeded to place more and more hot pebbles on my hands, on my forehead, down my chest and stomach, between my toes etc and I honestly can only tell you that I have never experienced anything quite like this. I went in to a zone for 90 minutes of euphoric dreamstate sort of napping but always vaguely aware of what ever she was doing to me. If you ever had a chance to experience this, by all means, do it! She learned this from a Hopi American Native but I am sure there are lots of variations. I believe me she used 43 stones all in all. I would give this a 10 compared to my next best massage a 6.5 I am going to go mellow now! |

From: jimmyt Well, I am sure youi are correct to a degree, M Mario but as I said, I have had her massages before and although they were excellent, the whole hot stone thing which I had thought was a gimmick before turned out to be pretty incredible. |

I was coming down with a cold and just wanted to stay in bed but he managed to convince me to go anyway. It was wonderful. Not only that, my cold lasted only a day. Yes, I dozed on and off. It was completely relaxing and the heat seemed to reach my bones. Definitely a 10 out of 10! |
