From: GUEST,Sarah OK, so when I was about ten (about twenty years ago) my mom had this tape of some really good folk stuff...kind of christian/socio political stuff...I can only remember snippets of two of the songs, but I'd love to be able to find this guy...he was a male singer songwriter....other than the lyrics I have no clue....so I'm throwing it out there in hopes SOMEBODY recognizes one of these... Song 1 Something like: I was born in white America Almost thirty years ago And I have always had enough to eat And a house that I could live in And clothes to keep me warm And all the latest fashions for my feet And in school we pledged allegiance To the symbol of it all (Insert a bunch of lines I don't remember) Chorus: Why did we start worshipping the red, white and blue As if god was American, or Christ was not a jew And we give all our bombs and time and money And there's no victory, only loss And no one's flag was flying above that lonely cross. And then there's another one, only know that it was something about having to "Learna a painful dance until someone learned the melody" OK....so there it is.... |
