Yet another request for lyrics to a rare song.

Roses In December from the 1937 film The Life Of The Party.

Composers: George Jessel, Ben Oakland, and Herbert Magidson.

Thanks in advance.

Blackcatter:

Do you have any snippets of lyrics? One of our "bluegrassers" sings a song with this name, but I'm not certain it's the one you're requesting.

I'm afraid I have little other than the above. It was used as a TV show theme The George Jessel Show (a musical variety) in 1953/54. That's why I'm interested in it, for my site: Blackcatter's World of TV Theme Lyrics.

I pieced this together from several sound samples. It might be the complete song, but I can't tell. Oddly, this song is included in several Christmas anthologies. Why? Because it mentions December, I suppose.

ROSES IN DECEMBER
George Jessel, Herbert Magidson, Ben Oakland, 1937.

Roses in December, for you.
Shall I take the stars from the blue?
Or would you like the moon upon a platter?
It doesn't matter. What can I do, for you?
If you'd like the spring in the fall,
It would be no trouble at all.
Give me your love and I can make the most impossible things come true:
Blue shadows never, sunshine forever,
Roses in December for you.

Without you, I'm meaningless, so helpless, so small.
Without you, I'm insignificant, just nothing at all.
With you, I could work miracles. You make me feel that way.
Anything you wish for, anything you say.

[allmusic lists recordings by these people. I think many of them are instrumentals: Bunny Berigan & His Orchestra, Benny Carter, Roy Fox, Benny Goodman, George Jessel, Vera Lynn, Ozzie Nelson & His Orchestra (with vocalist Harriet Hilliard), Dick Powell, Dick Robertson.]
