BS: 'God Bless' hoax

Watch out - there are emails going around saying God Bless as the subject line, claiming that Osama Bin Ladin has been captured, CNN has no pix but here are some I got with my camera off my TV. Don't open the pix, it is all a hoax.

Who cares if it's hoax? I'm glad to be forewarned, so as not to be duped, but I like to know all the latest dirt, including urban myths and internet hoaxes, etc.

Now, if it's a virus carrier, that's a different story. That would be a valid reason not to open the email.

Just read in ANOTHER thread that this is indeed a trojan horse virus. Be warned!

That is the point, PoppaGator. It IS a virus carrier. Only its purported message is a hoax; the virus itself is real.

Last time I checked, 'God' was a hoax in the first place...

You will probably be singing a different tune when you are on your deathbed, Clinton. Or in terrible pain.

Not likely MG... Though a little evidence might convince me to change my mind... Oh... right.. there isn't any... Oh well....

Pain? "Life is pain, Princess... anyone who says differently is selling something."

Keep your virus scanners updated, and don't open suspicious, unsolicited emails or email attachments.... d'uh...

Why we need a thread every time a new virus is encountered is beyond me... It's like people posting instructions for using shampoo...

Or people sending you an email telling you that you have a voicemail.

Sheesh.

So you think that Mudcatters need warning?

There are a wide varity of folks who check into the Mudcat. Some are more computer savvy than others. So - I guess so. It couldn't hurt.

If they are so unsavvy as to not know to keep your V-scanner/shield updated, and to not open unsolicited emails and attachments, do you think a 'warning' on Mudcat is gonna be enough to help them?

I doubt it...

Mind you I know invertebrates who know enough to regularly update their scanners an how to do 'safe' email...   I'm related to a few of them...

Keeping your virus protection updated won't help if you have the bad luck to be one of the very first victims. The security companies only learn of the viruses after they appear somehere!

Of course, the odds are very much in your favor if you run virus protection and keep it updated. There are a lot of PCs in the world, and you're about as likely to be the first victim of a new virus as you are to win the lottery.
