I was thinking of a trip south for this - do you think it will be a terrible squeeze?

We went to the final night at The Oak. A great night, with everyone in fine voice. Sad in many ways to see it move, but the new place sounds good.

Very emotive last night at the Royal Oak. The RAOB will still be meeting there though, on Thursdays, so have lasted longer than the folk club.

Apart from anything else, the new venue is easy to find - not tucked down a back street.

Sorry, in a way, to say goodbye to the old place - Herga was the first folk club I visited (in my dim and distant youth) and The Royal Oak the first clubroom in which I sang.

Looking forward to our new venue. Will be good to be on the "flat", making disabled access easier and with lots of lovely parking for those of us who don't "do" public transport.

AND, the added bonus that if you've forgotten that last bit of shopping there's a massive supermarket next door.

At the same time as the move, we will also mobilise on a number of fronts to increase membership both in numbers and scope (that means getting some young'uns in). Look out for visits to local schools & colleges, for example. Also, possible participation in the local Arts Festival with a 1-day event of our own, from next year. And Christmas carols outside the supermarket is a good idea too - thanks, Breezy!

Characteristically, we have booked Anthony John Clark and Spiers/Boden for March/April next year respectively. And did I mention that Isambarde will be doing a feature in August?

Vanessa says the banner/backdrop is coming along fine too.
