Tech: What do you think of Folk Town on Sirius

I was intrigued enough by the thought of an all-folk all-the-time radio station to subscribe to Sirius satellite radio. A lot of what I hear on Folk Town, Channel 38 is good, but the playlist gets excruciatingly repetitive, especially in favor of new releases.
They like to refer to "50 years of the music that changed America" but I think the station falls far short of its potential to go deeper than its Top 40 and keep its more thoughtful listeners interested.

Any thoughts, 'Cats?

I wondered about it too. Any playlists?

I listened to my sister's Sirius, and couldn't find ANYTHING, ANYWHERE on the dial I wanted to hear.

Bit far to go, innit? I've only got a two litre warp drive, and that's twelve years old.

Now, if you'd said the moon.............

I have XM and they do a great job on "The Village".   My complaint is that they do not have enough new releases.   They have a wonderful mix and they also broadcast concerts from the BBC as well as "Folk Stage" from WFMT. In addition you can hear Rich Warren's "The Midnight Special".

XM also broadcast Merle Fest this year and I understand they have several bluegrass fests in the next few months. I love XM!

I was not impressed with the folk offerings on Sirius which was the major reason I went with XM.

Anyone hear "Celtic Crush" on Sirius, and if so, what do they think of it.

That sounds a lot like Folk Alley, which I would also recommend if you haven't checked it out.

They, too, get a little repetitive and it makes you want more old stuff. I don't think I've ever heard the Weavers or Guthrie (Woody, that is, they've had Arlo.)

I just went into Dish Network and clicked on SR038 and find it is there--but click on the programming links and there is nothing to tell you anything about what or who is carried. Too bad. You can get minutia about movies and tv programs, why not radio?
