My Doneygal partner is sending me MP3's of practice tunes but OE prevents opening unsafe attachments. I know they are in my computer because it took a long time to download them? How can I open them? Thanks, harpy |

From: JohnInKansas In OE, you can select Tools|Options and on the Security tab uncheck (click to remove the check mark) where it says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could contain a virus." What you will receive can also be affected by the "Zone" setting. IF you have an AV that checks incoming email, and IF you keep it current, and IF your email service scans for viruses, AND IF YOU'RE NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO OPEN STUFF FROM UNKNOWN SENDERS, it's probably acceptable to use the "Internet Zone" setting and to uncheck both the "attachments" and "images" boxes. If you opt to receive images, you should make certain that you have the current Windows patch for embedded viruses in images. It's also recommended that you go to View|Layout and uncheck the "show preview pane" for best security, and DELETE any suspicious stuff without opening or previewing. John |

Sincerely,
Why should your supervisor know that you opened their e-mail on Monday - and did not get around to replying until Thursday? Really, foul-up the admins by replying on Thursday and opening on Friday. |
