BS: Another 6

Another six American troops killed in Iraq today.
Insurgent activity increases daily, and a majority of the Iraqi people now believe life is worse than under Saddam.
Poor power supply. Very little clean water.Rebuilding delayed. No security.
Bush on TV today seemed unsure of himself, and the press believe he is losing the support of the American people for continued troop involvment.
IMO its only a matter of time before America is forced to abandon its ill-considered enterprise, pull out the troops and leave the democratic Iraqis to an inevitable and very bloody civil war...Ake

I don't know how to do blue clickies ( it never works) so if you'll cut and paste this link you'll hear a very different story from the gloom and doom you seem so fond of.

Ya gotta read sites that you don't necessarily agree with.

The Media is not balanced in its coverage.

So sad. So tragic. I wish my tears could help. They are all I have to offer.

Troll..If you call that objective comment, you have lost all credibility in my eyes.

"You don't watch the story, you watch the teller."

However, continuing to con the American public into believing articles such as the one printed above, will be the job of Mr Bush and his friends.
It is heatening to see signs of erosion of support for the war among the American people.

What happens to the innocent Iraqis is another matter.
As gnu has said, a tragedy seems unavoidable....Ake

By the way, I get my information from BBC reporters on the ground in Iraq.   You can see the smoke and flames over their shoulders.

Latest officials figures say that there have been over 100 serious car bombings in Baghdad alone in the last month. Obviously co-ordinated by the mobile phones which your article claims have "spread like wildfire through the city"

A spokesman for the Iraqi govt said today that numbers of foreign fighters crossing into Iraq had increased dramatically.

The attack on American troops took place in Fallujah, the town supposedly "cleansed" of insurgents in February 05 ....Ake

I am glad things are appearing slightly more civilized in Iraq; but on the other hand, this pieces eems strongly biased toward Pollyanism, and does not address the lives of six Americans lost in the last day, or the thousands of others lost in implementing this vision.

The article to which Troll refers is by the editor-in-chief of "The American Enterprise - Online" (www.taemag.com). On the website's "About T.A.E." page, the organization describes itself in one paragraph as "fiercely independent... We don't have a party line", but in the next paragraph it says "Thousands of conservative activists, local leaders, congressmen, state and federal judges, writers, researchers, military officers, and business executives read us… Lots of non-conservative readers enjoy and respect us too (sometimes with one eyebrow raised)." On the site's "Internships" page, the organization describes its philosophy as "center-conservative".

So it doesn't surprise me in the least to see Troll describe a T.A.E. article as being "a very different story from the gloom and doom..." Obviously, T.A.E. has a vested interest in downplaying the horrors of the situation in Iraq and painting a rosy picture of "improvements" there. Don't be fooled by T.A.E's bias!

troll: the liberals here, and certainly Ake, revel in "gloom and doom." With that in mind, would you kindly stop raining on their parade? The glass is ALWAYS half empty.

"Vietnam redux." Yup. An opportunity to field test weapons and battle train troops. Laudable if you are into that kind of thing, I suppose. Otherwise, slightly fucking sick, to say the least. (Again, I admit that I was for it when I was lied to... so, don't get on my case now.)

Another dose of "Doom and gloom" for Doug and his friends down home in Disneyland.

The Iranian people have just elected a "hard line" Islamist president by a large majority. This is bad news for Western interests, as Mr Ahmadinejad sees Western culture and "democracy" as a threat to his people. Apparently he lives very simply, driving an old Peugeot and wearing working clothes.
He has pledged to cut out corruption ,hammer the ultra rich, and re-distribute Irans oil wealth among the poor.
If he puts these ideas into action, it wont be long till there is a visible "knock on" effect in Iraq, bringing the warned of Iraqi Islamic Republic ever nearer.

The American and British aggression in Iraq has turned out exactly as a small group of Mudcatters warned it would, before the war even started. Not doom and gloom, but clear thinking, the American/ UK action has made the spectre of an "Islamist axis" in Iran/ Iraq, a very real possibility.

But dont worry Doug, troll, Susu's hobby, just pull on your Mickey Mouse masks, put in your ear plugs...Everything will be all right...........Really, it will.......Ake :0)
