09 Oct 05 - 10:32 AM (#1579365) Subject: RE: SYNTAN Beverley From: Graham and Jo Summary of a summary about Trafalgar WE Trafalgar Weekend, the national start is 1900hrs Friday 21st October. All round Britain is a 200th year celebration of a defining moment in history when Nelson and his sailors defeated a fleet of French and Spanish ships off Cape Trafalgar. (There are many songs about this). There will be motor boats, yachts, a canal boat, a motor barge and a Humber Keel from the six nautical organisations on the River Hull assembled on Beverley |Beck. Hopefully about 10 Boats will be on view on Friday, Comrade with sails aloft if conditions allow. 1900 hrs to 1945hrs Beverley Town Brass Band will perform at Crane Wharf. On Saturday there may be up to 30 boats on view. From 1200hrs there will be music and singing spots by John Thrawl (sea shanties) Danny McCloud (from Newcastle, known country wide for his Sea Shanties), and sessions with local folk singers and musicians. There fill also be face painting. We were asked what exactly the sessions would be like and we said ad-hock. Last time we had sessions on the Syntan it was like one big informal party. All welcome. |
