The person thought Merle Haggard may have done it: "Get off the stove grandma, you're too old to ride the range." Thanks! |

SOCAN is the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada. From its website (www.socan.ca), it looks like SOCAN is a Canadian version of BMI or ASCAP. So Colin may be a Canadian songwriter, eh? |

I suppose Hartridge (or someone) made up the song after hearing the daft title. Ray |

08 Jun 07 - 11:47 AM (#2071494) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Get Off the Stove Grandma You're Too Old From: GUEST,Colin Hartridge Hi, it's me -- Captain Maniac. Yes, my real name is Colin Hartridge and as Jim mentioned, I played drums in a Vancouver BC rock band called Sparkling Apple. During the 70s, we had our own record label, RadioActive Records, and "Get Off the Stove, You're Too Old to Ride the Range" was on a 12-inch EP titled "Play At Your Own Risk". Of course, the song was a joke title, but it actually was a for-real song. Back in 1974 we also released "I'm Only Here For the Beer" on Foot Records. The title was based on a 70s t-shirt design! Keep on rockin', Colin |
