It is a day for all pround and patriotic Canadians to gather together at the camp or cottage or backyard, drink copious quantities and overcook the oversized burgers in a drunken stupour. Me... I'm goin to my CAMP! First time this year. I bolted from the bunk at first light like a little kid at Christmas. Have a real good day EH! |

And if you haven't already read it, which I doubt, I refer you to Alistair MacLeod's novel "No Great Mischief". As for land claims, check with the First Nations before you hire a surveyor, they've gotten pretty well organized... So far my Canada Day has been getting up early, doing a bit of work on the new little car we are adopting, then my wife went off to work (this is of course shameful behaviour unless you are a street vendor, but she is still American despite my best efforts). I rotated all the tires on her car then finally cracked open my first Creemore at 9:30. This evening we're playing at the festivities in Perth. I'm secretly excited about this. Conlon Farm ain't Parliament Hill, but we're opening for Sue Foley's kid brother's band, then there's fireworks. It will be cool! SO, Gnu, where's your camp? I'm hopin to visit you sometime when I get up to see the rels around Saint John. Willie-O |

Tonight I shall find something red to wear and go to the pub in the hopes that I can con someone into a game of crokinole. Yes, our pub has a crokinole board (courtesy of moi) and was the venue of the European Crokinole Championships, and we, the undefeated team. Larglely because we are unchallenged due to the lack of other European players beyond those who drink in this particular pub. Oh, and I sang O Canada twice this morning - once in English, once in French. siân |

Lots of moose, deer, rabbits, trout, etc, and we had two or three skeeters... ("skeeters" in Kent County is a term meaning "RUN!!!!"). I enjoyed the fireworks immensely. From dusk to almost dawn, the fireflies (Glowbugs to some?) lit up the night. And, last night, you could touch the stars. Even put 50km on the ATV yesterday. Now, I gotta go take a couple of showers. |
