"The new tune - or rather the ORIGINAL tune - to "The Calico Printer's Clerk" is proving very popular with audiences wherever we've sung it so please come along and have a listen and a sing. We did have a couple of problems with local youths on the campsite, although 90% of campers heard and saw nothing. Our stewards were fantastic, and did their best to ensure that the following nights went smoother. We know that other festivals have encountered the same problems, so if you know of anyone who has found anything that works, please tell us! We're definitely open to ideas and suggestions! Apart from that, the weekend was just so brill; it was by far our biggest to date, and I've met so many lovely people! The artists were superb, especially Colcannon who tried to get to just about every event over the weekend, even the Survivors Session!! Anyway, I'm resting now (and planning for 2006!!) Must be mad! Excellent singing in the Wagon and playing, very well attended My workshop on collecting building a repertoire got to page 2 of 6 nicely participative (nice word) How is Eileen can you keep us posted! (steward of Eileen and Maurice fame) not very well after an operation I think Got to Manchester ballads just, I was running session in Wagon and they wouldn't let me leave I gave it to Jude Knight!! Many thanks to Stephen and Maggie from Denby Dale lovely input also Mick McGarry and Trim Rig and Doxy very strong singer/melodeon player Interesting workshop on Sydney Carter from Sylvia Needham Colcannon were never off stage even at the Cross Keys, brilliant they went down a storm final concert Pat Ryan and Ken Howard hadnt spoken to Pat for over 20 years altho seen from a distance and i dont get to Fylde very often caught up with them at the Museum and guess what Colcannon impromptu with em Pat more than ready for retiring from day job held her back from singing Barrie and Ingrid go from strength to strength, so does the beer so sorry if I missed you you were probably buying me beer all weekend! Marie Little sang as if her life depended upon it what an energetic performer, full of life and her very funny women's song she slays 'em So Saddleworth next year put in yer diary!! I did this at Cleckheaton once with someone who looked to be casing the tents looking for something to pinch. When I took his photograph he asked why I had done so and I indicated that if anything went missing the photographs would be given to the Police as a starter, he dissappeared VERY quickly after that ........ can't think why! |

In fact sometimes TOO HOT!! So was thankful Sat afternoon to enjoy fab sinaround on shaded lawn of the conservative club. Also Moor & Coast tent both nights late on & signing Ducks on Fri. Good to see the poultry enjoying themselves! Another suggestion that may work with the people who were causing trouble, have security staff patrolling the campsite. I experienced these teams at Middlewich & Cleckheaton & no theft, vandalism or unruly behaviour was in evidence at all. |

Our dear friends at the Civic Hall - our main venue - have decided to let the Hall out for a wedding! They don't see us as "annual" as we've only been there 8 years!! We put next year's dates in the programme as July 21st to 23rd - unfortunately that clashes with Warwick, which means that we couldn't have Moor and Coast or most of our wonderful stewards (plus probably loads of festival-goesrs). So just for 1 year we're having a radically different date, which we know will still clash with some festivals, but then they all do, don't they? We're now having Saddleworth 2006 on the weekend of July 28th to 30th. Our committee would be really grateful if you could pass the word around for us!!! Love, Ali |

Sorry I can't do the blue line thingy - but it's live on Mudcat at the moment, with plenty of hits. And the campsite should be fine, providing the weather stays like it is at the moment.
