CNN President Bush while biking today collided with a policeman in Aberdeen. The policeman has an ankle injury and George has arm and leg road rash.

jeez this man is a hazard to himself and others behind handlebars.

The policeman will be sent to Guantanamo Bay until we're sure he won't be a threat to other decent Americans.

Didn't the policeman know to give way? This is, after all, the most powerful man in the known world. Where was the man's sense of propriety?

(I hope he sues the bush's socks off.)

George isn't used to anyone getting in his way and the policeman isn't used to people ignoring his directions.

George will be calling the policeman later to ...

A apologize
B check on his medical condition
C garner a cute photo op

"Other" decent Americans?   There weren't any of those in the incident, as I understand it; only GWB!

Well I was going to say it can happen to the best of us, you know your cycling along a Country Road, lost in thought....! That's when I realised that this was not the reason for the accident...GWB lost...but not in thought! To "think" one needs a Brain and as there is no mention of Snarl Rove cycling alongside GWB it would appear the only person involved in the accident that was thinking was the Strathclyde Policeman..penny for his thoughts...:>)

I mean what is it with this man...he's a prize klutz!!!
Now there he is at the G8 Summit, stumbling around the English language with Gravel Rash on his hands...Oh no...Does anyone know what I mean when I say I am feeling embarrased, that feeling one gets when you are watching TV or something and someone does something like singing really badly in public and you cringe for them...well if you know what I mean, then that's how I feel right now..lol

Very Pretzeldential GWB!!!

"He is a member of the police department of Strathclyde, a nearby town," McClellan said.

Can't they get anything right. McClellen might have said the officer is a member of the Strathclyde Police Service. We don't have a Police department, nor do we have a town called Strathclyde. It is an area covering greater Glasgow, and surrounding areas.

Also Aberdeen has plenty of spikey statues, pointy fences, random drops, and Aberdonians. Why can't he have run into one of those....

Hopefully the Police will take a look at the bicycle GWB was riding to ascertain that it was roadworthy, with efficient brakes, correct reflectors and an audible warning instrument (usually a bell). Certain Cunstruction and Use regulations apply to bicycles in the UK, as does the fact that cycles are only permitted to be used on the road or dedicated cycleways. Cycling on pavements is prohibited as they are defined as footpaths.
The policeman is quite entitled tu sue GWB for assault.
No-one is above the law and I hope that, were there any transgressions, the full weight of the Courts would fall on the errant cyclist. If the US can have a "zero tolerance" policy then so should we.
Colyn.

What a bunch of sick bastards.   Getting jollies by making bad jokes about a bicycle accident. I hope you keep your day jobs because the humor is not cutting it. I bet you can't wait for the next auto accident so you can have some more laughs.

I don't care how much I hate the guy, I do not wish him or anyone around him harm.   Apparently he was at fault - peddling too fast on a wet road. Not the smartest thing, but thankfully the injuries to him and officer were minor. It could easily have been worse for both.

By the way, at least he was getting exercise. I've seen some of the pictures that Mudcatters have posted and it wouldn't hurt for some of us to get on a bicycle every now and then. I promise I won't laugh when you fall on your ass.

All righty then. We have all the proof we need that Iranians sabotaged the bike and caused this accident. Given that the entire world is full of bikes, the whole world should back Garge in a preemptive strike against Iran before millions are involved in bicycle accidents. Or was it the Panamanians? The Grenadians? The Cubans? The Koreans? The Borg? We will have to rely in the intelligence. Where is it? Oh, yeah...

None of us actually Ron.
There is a VAST dieffrence between a klutz falling off a bicycle and a Terrorist attack. Why, do you find today's terrorist attack funny!!
I certainly don't.
You see that is what I meant when I said there's very little that one gets to laugh about lately.
Hopefully you see my point. I doubt that though.
Again I thought your previous post was uncalled for and this one takes the biscuit.
I don't like Games. Don't play them myself. You obviously do.
Best to stick to airing your indignant respones to the airwaves than attempting to belittle people here because they were having a bit of fun at GWB expense!.
How dare you suggest that anyone (who posted to the original still "humorous subject matter" of this Thread) would find it funny that people were injured and killed.
How dare you. Your way out of line Sir.
To use this Terrorist Attack as a tool for a comeback to those you critised on this Thread is not only a tad desperate but pretty sick!

Anyway -
seeing as we badly need something to laugh about, Radio 5 last night invited listeners to come with headlines for the Bush-bike story.

I couldn't decide whether my favourite was "Shock And Ow!" (very clever), or the more direct and to-the-point "Idiot falls off bike".

07 Jul 05 - 10:59 AM (#1517048)
Subject: RE: BS: GWB rams policeman with bike.
From: WFDU - Ron Olesko

Of course the barbaric attack is not funny. Neither is an accident that could have seriously endangered two people. Joking about either is a sick thing. When we take joy in other peoples ills, we are not far off from the twisted individuals that caused todays tragedy.    If we cannot find compassion in our hearts for a fellow human then we will never put an end to the strife that exists in the world. It isn't always the "other guy", it is us.

Of course we need to laugh, but not about tragedy or accidents. Black humor is one thing, but this is not the case. I know a person that was paralysed in a bicycle accident. A few weeks ago a man who works at a local supermarket was killed on his bicycle by a hit and run driver. This isn't about being "PC", but rather just using common sense.

Ron, the principles of comedy say the following:

A man slips on a banana peel and injures his dignity. That's funny, particularly if he is a pompous ass.

A man slips on a banana peel and breaks his back. That's not funny, even if he is a pompous ass.

Go back to bed and try to get up on the right side of it, okay?

I suspect that the policeman's mates will be pulling his leg about this for a long time. And he'll be getting free drinks out of the story for years.

And Bush will probably try to get cheap laughs out of it in the odd press conference, if he still has those. It rather ties in with the President Homer Simpson image... After all, he hasn't got any more elections to worry about, he could try to build himself up as a kind of lovable buffoon.

He's a buffoon, alright. I think he has been working overtime to promote his image as lovable. In fact, I think thats why so many Americans like him. He's just a good guy capable of making mistakes. They don't want a capable leader. They want someone with all the human frailties; someone who makes silly mistakes. It makes their own vulnerability so much more palatable.

People who object to the humo(u)r of this incident being recognized is relating too well to the bush. Are you reacting to the humiliation, the fear of being laughed at in your own life, the viseral recoil at the appearance of blood, or a memory from the distant past that has never gone away? Or are you under the impression that the mighty don't fall? Are you afraid that someone will (horrors!) tell the president that we laughed at him? LOL

Trust me- this president has gone through so many incidents of this kind of blunder that he will scarcely remember it next week. He thinks it is routine. Remember the pretzel? He thinks everybody has choked on one so severely that they too passed out.

Today as Blair delivered his talk about the bombings with Chirac on the left and Bush on the right I noticed that Chirac kept his gaze steady and off to the side for the speech...but Bush snickered and kept looking into the camera.

I think I have a heightened visual sense and I swear I see the fascial gesticulations of the dictator Mussolini when I look at Bush on the occaisions when he does his distinctive frowning snicker.
