It is said that he conquered the Costwolds and reach Rollright and was confronted by a witch. His trembling soldiers in a circle whispered "rebel". His knights stood to one side and discussed tactics. And the witch turned them all to stone. He is the Oar Stone. The knights are the remains of a burial chamber and the circle is what we know as the Rollright stones. Which no one counts the same number. There is a song to the effect - by.........
