07 Jul 05 - 10:54 AM (#1517038) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: John Hardly Ha ha! I confess -- I watched it. *hanging head in shame* ...and I've been googling to find out if anyone else saw the finale as rigged as I did. ...suddenly, other events this morning made a rigged TV contest seem a little smaller in my mind. Do you remember at what point O'Hurley made the comment? I might remember if you could tell me about when it happened in the show. |

07 Jul 05 - 10:58 AM (#1517046) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: Kim C I think it was during the training segments and not the live portion. This was the only time we had watched it - I enjoyed it very much. A lot of people are saying it was rigged, but I don't know. . . the two finalist pairs had very different styles. Not being a dance expert, I can't really say. I thought they were both really good. I would have preferred for O'Hurley's team to win, because I thought they had more class. (That should say DANCING with the Stars, by the way. . .) ;-) |

07 Jul 05 - 11:47 AM (#1517098) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: Kim C I guess is would be the acme of foolishness to ask if anyone happened to tape it? |
|
07 Jul 05 - 12:10 PM (#1517113) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: John Hardly not foolish at all. I nearly did tape it 'cause my wife was out doing errands when it started and wanted to see it. Alas, she got home in time and I stopped the tape. |

07 Jul 05 - 03:48 PM (#1517282) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: Alice John was robbed! I watched several episodes, being a tango fan, myself, and John and his partner should have clearly won. The "winner" even stumbled awkwardly and lost the beat of the music when doing one of her stunts in the final dance. |

09 Jul 05 - 03:38 PM (#1519091) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: GUEST,Mary in Kentucky, no cookie Yo Kim, I just saw John on a commercial. Is this also what you were referring to? I thought the comment was a standalone comment having to do with dancing. In the commercial, he was talking about the special treatment he got...and at the end he said, "I feel like the sultan of oompapamowmow." |

09 Jul 05 - 06:01 PM (#1519172) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: robomatic I only watched portions of it, and I think it was totally watchable, but I would've enjoyed the learning sessions more, and I either missed 'em or they weren't aired. I think John O'Hurley was way better than Ms. Monaco. He had against him that he is tall, inherently more massive, older, and male. But he had a style and grace that was wonderful to behold. Ms. Monaco was not devoid of talent, but in the semifinals I thought she relied overmuch on wriggling her moneymaker, and I lost a bit o'respect. John's enthusiasm seemed unfeigned and was contagious. For my dough, he was the winner. He was one of the best things about Seinfeld and one of the few people who can kill on television or radio. |

11 Jul 05 - 11:42 AM (#1520005) Subject: RE: BS: Danging With the Stars finale From: Kim C I think he said he lost something like 15 lbs. Dancing is good exercise, and FUN! I saw a story on the news a few weeks ago about a school system - I think maybe it was in New York - that has a ballroom dancing program, complete with tournament, for its students. The kids were really digging it. One young man said he liked dancing because "it makes me feel alive." |
