Did anyone else watch this? John O'Hurley said something VERY clever and funny, and damned if Mister and I can remember what it was.

Ha ha! I confess -- I watched it. *hanging head in shame* ...and I've been googling to find out if anyone else saw the finale as rigged as I did.

...suddenly, other events this morning made a rigged TV contest seem a little smaller in my mind.

Do you remember at what point O'Hurley made the comment? I might remember if you could tell me about when it happened in the show.

I think it was during the training segments and not the live portion.

This was the only time we had watched it - I enjoyed it very much. A lot of people are saying it was rigged, but I don't know. . . the two finalist pairs had very different styles. Not being a dance expert, I can't really say. I thought they were both really good. I would have preferred for O'Hurley's team to win, because I thought they had more class.

(That should say DANCING with the Stars, by the way. . .) ;-)

Was it, "Do we get to keep the toll-free number?"

No, that wasn't it. It was before that. That's not especially clever. ;-)

Danging with the stars sounds like more fun anyway.

I guess is would be the acme of foolishness to ask if anyone happened to tape it?

not foolish at all. I nearly did tape it 'cause my wife was out doing errands when it started and wanted to see it. Alas, she got home in time and I stopped the tape.

Everything John O'Hurley says is very clever and funny. Well, at least it all sounds very clever and funny, even when it isn't, really.

John was robbed! I watched several episodes, being a tango fan, myself, and John and his partner should have clearly won. The "winner" even stumbled awkwardly and lost the beat of the music when doing one of her stunts in the final dance.

Trust me - this was ESPECIALLY clever and funny. Which is why I'm so frosted that I don't remember it.

Dancing? I had looked at it and decided it was 'dangLing' with the stars. Astonomy perhaps.

Yo Kim, I just saw John on a commercial. Is this also what you were referring to? I thought the comment was a standalone comment having to do with dancing.

In the commercial, he was talking about the special treatment he got...and at the end he said, "I feel like the sultan of oompapamowmow."

I only watched portions of it, and I think it was totally watchable, but I would've enjoyed the learning sessions more, and I either missed 'em or they weren't aired. I think John O'Hurley was way better than Ms. Monaco. He had against him that he is tall, inherently more massive, older, and male. But he had a style and grace that was wonderful to behold. Ms. Monaco was not devoid of talent, but in the semifinals I thought she relied overmuch on wriggling her moneymaker, and I lost a bit o'respect. John's enthusiasm seemed unfeigned and was contagious. For my dough, he was the winner.
He was one of the best things about Seinfeld and one of the few people who can kill on television or radio.

Did they make a commercial out of it?!!? Maybe it was a teaser for the show. I dunno. Anyhow I'm just glad he remembered it. It's too cute. :-)

I watched at times. It was fixed. But John made the whole thing worth watching. I kept hoping he would lose those 20 lbs.

I think he said he lost something like 15 lbs.

Dancing is good exercise, and FUN! I saw a story on the news a few weeks ago about a school system - I think maybe it was in New York - that has a ballroom dancing program, complete with tournament, for its students. The kids were really digging it. One young man said he liked dancing because "it makes me feel alive."
