Sorry, I'm new at this and just started a new thread. Anyway, I've got the words from Stanley's recordings. I'm guessing he was the first to record it. As for the music,I'm guessing he had it about right. As for the history of the song ?

Presume you mean 'angels.'
Can't find much except that it was recorded by The Stanley Brothers on Jessup in 1973. June Carter Cash also sang it.
Could be traditional, but nothing so far.

Judy Collins wrote a different song also called "Wings of Angels."

There seem to be several different songs called WINGS OF ANGELS.

The one that Ralph Stanley recorded is sometimes credited to Ruby Rakes. It was also recorded by Breakaway, the Clinch Mountain Boys, Don Rigsby, and Ricky Skaggs.

I pieced together the following lyrics from several samples, so I'm not sure I got the whole song.

WINGS OF ANGELS
Ruby Rakes?

1. A child was born to be our savior.
Wise men came from near and far
To see little Jesus in the manger,
Their pathway lightened by a star

CHORUS: Someday he'll wake me from the dead.
No more I'll sleep there all alone,
But carried up to him on high
On the wings of angels headin' home.

2. They crucified our lord and savior.
Alone died there on the cross
That we might someday rise and join him,
Our souls to Satan not be lost.

[June Carter Cash also wrote one that was recorded by her and also by Rosanne Cash

The one that Judy Collins recorded was apparently written by herself.
