I've been looking around for some time now. I guess if there isn't much info. to be found , how do you consider such songs if there in the public domain?

Ralph Stanley, "Wings of Angels," is copyright, BMI work no. 167949.
Pub. LA-CAR Pub. Co. (Controlled Jessup records, who originally issued the recording).
He has 216 work titles under copyright.

June Carter Cash has her version also under copyright (ASCAP list).

I have not been able to find a trad. version.
