I thought maybe I was havin some dementia 'er halfhiemers stuff going on but, no, according to my doc a bl;ood test reveals that Iz got anemia... That's 'bout it... Yeah, she (my doc) had me have another blood test and though she ain't in until Monday mornin', her nurse said that the second test said the same thing: ANEMIA.... Well, she couldn't 'er wouldn't say if it was the kind that's badder than the other kind but did tell the P-Vine, upon the P-Vine's insistence, that it prolly ain't all that bad??? Whatever that means??? All I know is that yesterday I was tryin' to figure out the sqaure footage of a buildin' and I didn't have a clue what 7 X 7 was... And I was a little confused about a few other things... No, not George Bush... Well, if anyone out there in Catburg has had similar stories 'er knows much about this stuff, I'd sure like to know 'bout it... Right now it has me a little concerned because I got way too much on my plate to be an idiot... Bobert |

Doc had me do a barium milkshake to see about ulcers, an endoscopy (they stick a light down yer throat), and a colonoscopy (they stick a light up yer...well, it ain't yer throat). I wanted 'em to do the endo and colono at the same time ("Doctor! I see a light!"), but they din't. They also din't find anything. So they figured it was because I was taking Ibuprofen. Then about a year later I find out that a friend was also bad from taking Ibu -- in his case he was bleeding out through his stomach. I quit taking it (except with food if there's nothin' else) and haven't had a problem since. I also take vitamins with iron. My friend died. Not from the ibuprofen, from something else. 15 Jul 05 - 11:03 AM (#1522189) Subject: RE: BS: Anemia Got Holt of the Hillbilly.... From: GUEST Hemo iron foods (red meat, seafood, poultry) are rich in iron and contain iron in a form that is easily absorbed by the body. Red meat also has a special effect on iron absorption. Red meat, when eaten together with the vegetables, can boost the absorption of non-hemo iron by up to 400%. Vitamin C has a similar positive effect on the absorption of iron Tea contains tannin that could inhibit the absorption of iron. Avoid Tea Foods Rich in Iron(in mg - 18 = daily requirement): Blackstrap Molasses, one tablespoon 3.0 Dates or Prunes, ½ cup 2.4 Beef, Pork, Lamb, three ounces 2.3 to 3.0 Liver three ounces 8.0 to 25.0 Clams, Oysters ¾ cup 3.0 Dark meat Turkey ¾ cup 2.6 Pizza, cheese or pepperoni, ½ of 10 inch pie 4.5 to 5.5 |
15 Jul 05 - 11:15 AM (#1522205) Subject: RE: BS: Anemia Got Holt of the Hillbilly.... From: Stilly River Sage Giok just mentioned the problem I encounter with iron supplements--if I take them at all I have to take them every other day, or cut the pill and take half a day or they plug me up. After a few doses it tends to turn your stool very dark, so you can presume that you're eliminating most of it anyway. Take a small dose, it's more than you're getting now, and boost your iron. I think the suggestion about the new climate is also viable--not necessarily because of what you're eating there, but perhaps what you're NOT eating there. If you been working as hard as one usually has to work when moving a household, then take a few quiet and relaxing moments (remember that calm room you were going to set up, your comfortable space in this new place?) and eat more regular meals, take a little iron supplement, and give yourself a break. Good luck! SRS |

Yup, them blood-suckin' critters from Rurisvania or wherever they're from. Somebody has imported 'em into Luray, Virginia and they've busted loose and found ol' Bobert to feast on. He's new in town, and them vampires probably heard one of the locals call him "new blood." Now, vampires ain't as bad as they've been called. 16 Jul 05 - 01:25 PM (#1522593) Subject: RE: BS: Anemia Got Holt of the Hillbilly.... From: dianavan Bobert - You need to investigate. Why are you anemic? In the meantime, bake with non-suphured, black strap molasses (just a little), use cast iron and eat your spinach. Spinach doesn't have to be slimy. Cook it fresh with very little water (the water clinging to the leaves is enough) until it just barely wilts. Add garlic and butter. Yum! Spinach salad with oranges and almonds is also very good. What remains is rhubarb without the bite. It actually works well. I know someone who actually makes wine from rhubarb. I have told him I think its a bad idea but I think its too late. From my mother's side of the family I inherited many of the family traits, including chronic anemia. Since time immemorial, the women in the family used cast iron till all that aluminum came out. After my mother inherited her mother's castiron skillet--that Granny bought second hand & the handle was broke at the time almost 90 years ago--she didn't have the anemia anymore. When I was rear-ended in my vehicle 4 1/2 years ago, what was thought to be concussion related hard-to-think-straight-itis has continued. I have alot of trouble with anything to do with numbers. I can no longer memorize lyrics & tunes easily, it takes months, & sometimes the lyrics never seem to stay. Turns out that when your head whips forward-whiplash, more damage is sometimes done when the head whips back, like slight swelling or tearing of the brainstem or surrounding tissues. This has caused some of these problems for me. I almost need a retriever whenever I attempt to have a conversation, because I frequently cannot 'retrieve' a word from my brain & have to substitute some other word. I tire way too easily, & have headaches. Any chance that you flopped your head around whilst tossing boxes & furniture? And, keep a pot of chili going: red meat, lots of kidney and other beans, a little molasses, a stout beer, along with all the usual spices. That's what I cooked for a friend with anemia: it's a bowl of iron, easily digested and yummy. Take care of yourself. Dani |

From: gnu "...chili going: red meat, lots of kidney and other beans, a little molasses, a stout beer, along with all the usual spices." And all them greens ta others mentioned. Ya know, throw dehydration from shittin yer drawers all day on top of anemia and ya got a real problem. Of course, you'll have no problem with the nap thing... ya won't have any time. With that diet, all I can add is ya better get some Preparation H and a good diaper rash cream. And, LOTS a swipe. |

18 Jul 05 - 09:44 PM (#1523791) Subject: RE: BS: Anemia Got Holt of the Hillbilly.... From: Bobert Well, now I am really steamed.... This ol' gal is such a prude and every time I see her she nags and nags me about drinkin' beer... Okay, I mighta mentioned that before... I'm here to tell ya' that if I were to go to her wioth poison Ivy she'd blame it on beer!!! I swear she would... As God as my witness, Doc Meanie woudl blame the poison ivy on beer... So, ah hah... The new test results came back last week and Doc BeerHater was on vacation but like on Friday I called and her nurse, NurseFromHell, RN, told me that tho she couldn't tell me what the results were that I most likely still had anemic levels in my blood... Thanks fir nuthin, RN (Registered Nut)... So I fret all weekend... Actually I didn't... I had a nice weekend... So another nurse, who must be like Doc BobertNagger's siter, calls me today and says that all my nummers are no normal and that I ain't anemic BUT Doc MeanieMouth says I should cut my beer consumption to no more than two a day!!! Like that's gonna happen... Ya' know what? Now that I've moved down here to Luray, I'm goina' find me a new doctor.... I mean, why should I have have to drive 70 miles to be nagged???? I don't think I had anemia in the 1st place... Them folks prolly just made the entire thing up to scare me into living like they do as prudes... That's me story and, as per usual, unless someone comes up with pictorial evidence to the contrary, Iz sticken' to it... Bobert |

Hey, when was the last time you moved while trying to renovate the new place, move 10 million plants, get 2 new purchased properties fixed up and rented, be finishing up opne major renovation in Winchester and looking a the next one up here???? No wonder I'z tired... In the last 3 months I have sold one propert, purchased 4, loaded up 19 trailer loads of stuff, painted my old house, played music regularlly and kept up with ther P-Vine's honey-do list... Yeah, I think I have figgured out why Iz tired and a tad confuzerated... Like the ol' Humble Pie song, "I don't need no doctor, fir what is ailin' me.... And as fir the confuzeration situation... Don't knock it if ya ain't tried it.... No, really, okay maybe I was a little confuzerated an' maybe my red corps-pussles were down a tad... Ntuhin' a couple side order of beets can't fix.... Plus, like I said, if ya ain't tried confusion, don't knock it... Ain't no secret round this joint that I occasionally get a tad confuzerated, is it??? Bobert |
