18 Jul 05 - 06:57 PM (#1523683) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: wiltshirebob A couple of songs per spots arranged in advance I am taking up to four each night in advance and others on the door in the interest of fairness to those coming at the last minute. Its really difficult for me to do this in advance stuff as I have for years advocated the first come first served system, irregardless of ability/competence. I firmly believe that all singers have to start somewhere. However I also understand the needs of a paying audience so I would ask please that the floor spots be suitable for the event and be at least in tune/entertaining etc Also I will need at least an email from prospective spots with their name and what they play etc. Sorry to say I dont always recognise the person by their catter nickname! Thanks in advace Bob |
19 Jul 05 - 10:15 AM (#1523945) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: alanww Hi Bob I have sent you an email, showing my interest, and a back-up PM, given Leadfingers' experience. It sounds as if your Arts Centre Folk Club sessions should go well. Enjoy! "I dreamed a dream the other night!" Alan |

20 Jul 05 - 09:57 AM (#1524186) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: Don(Wyziwyg)T After delay message on E-Mail, I tried to PM you as wiltshirebob, and it told me no members found. Twice! I am Don Thompson, one of the regular performers at the Bedford Hotel sessions, and I would like a spot on the first Friday, or failing that, the Saturday. I go out gigging as Wysiwyg, and have guested at several Kent Clubs and also at the Smart festival in Stafford a couple of years back. My act is humour based, mostly self penned, and quite popular at Sidmouth over the last five years. If you received my E-Mail, please forgive this post, but I have no way of knowing if you did. Kind regards Don Thompson |
20 Jul 05 - 10:01 AM (#1524188) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: MBSLynne Oh Don!! I thought you were going to come to our Ashby de la Zouch session at the Volunteer on the first Friday!! Love Lynne |
20 Jul 05 - 10:41 AM (#1524232) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: GUEST,The Barden of England at work Bob I've had the same problem as Don T, so I'll ask you from here. I'd love to do a spot during the week. I'm the one who nominally runs the Bedford Sessions during Folk Week and have been a guest at quite a few festivals (Middlewich, Deal, Walton-on-Naze, Solent to name but a few). I'm in Sidmouth from Friday to Friday if it helps. John Barden |

20 Jul 05 - 11:38 AM (#1524309) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: GUEST are you sure this is a real thread and not another one of lizzies? |
20 Jul 05 - 11:56 AM (#1524344) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: alanww My email to you bounced aswell, Bob! But I hope my PM got through? If not, I would be able to do a slot on the Wednesday evening or, failing that, possibly on the last Friday. BTW I sing a bit, mostly traditional songs & shanties, often with English concertina accompaniment. "When I was a young man my father did say ...!" Alan PS If you want to discuss this, I'm off to China tomorrow and will be back on Monday 1 August. So I will try to text/call your mobile when I get to Sidmouth. |
20 Jul 05 - 05:44 PM (#1524571) Subject: RE: Sidmouth Folk Week Folk Club From: Polly Squeezebox Guest of 20th July, I can assure you this is a real thread - I was talking to Bob about it at Wiltshire Traditions Folk Club at Devizes on Monday. Bob is obviously checking this thread periodically, so I'm sure he'll put down correct e-mail address within a couple of days. If not, you could always try phoning the mobile number he put on his original message. Polly |

Because I'd love to get a couple of songs in as part of what I suspect will be one of the best things happening this year. |
