Sincerely, GrandpoppaGator PS to Amos ~ you didn't read my 4:17 post, did you? Or do you just not know the song? Or is it because I somehow inadvertently misspelled "K-Doe"? |

Mebbe you should apply to fill some of them titles now, PG! A |

30 Jul 05 - 12:24 PM (#1531562) Subject: RE: BS: I'm A Mother-in-Law From: Metchosin Thanks gnu, this old block would like to think so, but to me she looks more like her grandmother in photos when she was young. I'm pretty certain that as a mother-in-law I don't worry Rolf, they've been together for five years and I haven't managed to scare him away yet. Although, as he admitted during the toast to the bride, when he first saw her, his fetish and lust for women in short kilts, particularly one smoking away on a bass on stage, over rode any other worries he might have had about other aspects of a relationship. I think other aspects might have included the baggage of this mother-in-law. Grandchildren might be great PoppaGator, but I won't hold my breath with these two. I've sort of resigned myself to forever babysitting rats, which she calls her hand-dogs. But I have another daughter to go yet and she and her SO seem much more inclined, so who knows. And Amos and PoppaGator, I was singing that song in my head when I put up the picture. Due to their quite private natures, probably neither Rolf nor Ceilidh would be overjoyed to know I've plastered their photo in a public forum. However, they are aware that sometimes my enthusiasm outstrips my sensitivity to others' feelings. |

Now I'm both and I love and cherish it ... it's all part of life's' progressions ... and that is the wonderment of life's harmony. sIx |

01 Aug 05 - 11:31 AM (#1532662) Subject: RE: BS: I'm A Mother-in-Law From: Metchosin Thanks all. I needed the response, maybe its just what happens after the "high" of such an occasion, but I was feeling really down in the aftermath. I shouldn't, nothing has really changed. She has a fine young man, disproving the myth that "nice guys" finish last and he is a "lucky man". She's a very decent human being, who thinks the world of him. Now if I could just settle down and get on with all the stuff I've put on hold that has piled up over the past few months. Think I'll go out and hack down some stinging nettles and think about what it might feel like to be called granny. I've got one more day of holidays before I have to contend with the other work stuff and perhaps getting my endorphins up, with a bit of physical labour, will help. |

01 Aug 05 - 01:09 PM (#1532718) Subject: RE: BS: I'm A Mother-in-Law From: PoppaGator Note to Amos: I didn't think I was being all that "genteel" when I brought up K-Doe's "Mother-in-Law" lyric; in fact, I hesitated to make any reference at all to "the worst person I know"! None of the late Ernie's titles are up for grabs at the moment. His widow, the extremely photogenic Antoinette (who has never taken a bad picture and who always looks about half her actual age) is making a full time career out of preserving K-Doe's memory and heritage, and she guards every aspect of his legacy with the utmost jealousy. Back to you, Metchosin: Congrats again. If those kids would rather live with weenie dogs than rug rats, I suppose that's their choice. Maybe they'll change their minds someday. Either way, best of luck to all! |
