From: Bobert Woke up this mornin' to the swelterin' heat Yeah, woke up this mornin' to the swelterin' heat What I saw out the window Made me jump to my feet There out behind the house Was a snowman with eyes of coal Yeah, a big ol' snowman with eyes of coal Yeah, he was glistenin' in the mornin' sun Them eyes burnin' thru my soul So I run to get my camera And I run to get my wife Yeah, I run to get my camera Lord, I run to get my wife Say, "Baby, strangest thing I ever seen in my life" By the time I got her to the window Don'tcha know that snowman was gone Yeah, when I got my baby to the window That coal eyed snowman gone Just then my eyes opened As night gave way to dawn Yeah, that snowman wore me out Made me wake a' feelin' beat Yeah, that dream wore me out Lord, Iwas feelin' beat Walked outside where's I'd seen him Found couple lumps of coal at my feet... |

31 Jul 05 - 01:50 PM (#1532139) Subject: RE: BS: Mid-summer Snowman.... From: Severn The other connection with snowmen and coal, I guess, is that Frosty only assocated with minors. Luckily for him, he didn't last long enough to get any of them over a state line, violating the "Snow Mann Act". (If he had, come to think of it, that type of thing didn't turn that cool for Chuck Berry either). Of Thee Icing, Severn He only hung with little kids 'cause he couldn't have any melt of his own, I guess |

01 Aug 05 - 07:32 AM (#1532520) Subject: RE: BS: Mid-summer Snowman.... From: gnu Well, okay. What about on a blues CD for kids. I mean, all that Barney shit and the like messes with their little heads... dinosaurs and weird little creatures of all colours. Giant birds who talk? Why not a snowman that walks? How's about, "I Got the Face Down in My Cereal Bowl Blues." Better than, "The Wheels on the Bus" going round and round... all day long. What kind of life lesson is that? (Meaningful) music appreciation should begin early. |

If I ever get a chance to do a blues CD fir kids, I sho nuff writ up 'nuff a corny songs in my life to have them oozin' thru the plastic cd jewel case... The P-Vine is an Orff teacher and gets um when they is about 4 years old and I sometimes like to take 'um aside an' leant 'um up on the lap dulcimer... B:) |

02 Aug 05 - 01:06 AM (#1533159) Subject: RE: BS: Mid-summer Snowman.... From: Desert Dancer Hey, Bobert, it's bin done! Check these out: Midsummer Snowballs by Andy Goldsworthy. More here. (In the beginning of July, somewhere in the midst of our 39-day run of over 100-degree high temps and before the blessed clouds finally returned, a group of neighbors and I watched the DVD "Rivers and Tides" about Andy Goldsworthy's environmental art. It started out with him visiting Nova Scotia on a commission, working on the beach making fragile sculptures of icicles on the boulders, then visted with him in Scotland doing interesting things with colored leaves and flowers running down streams, walking around in the Scottish mists collecting materials... someone commented that it was "porn for desert-dwellers" -- all that luscious cool and moisture! It was entrancing.) ~ Becky in Tucson |
