So I don't think it's dumbed down (recently). I think I'd do the Flashman books by GMFraser in 1, melodeon players of the 21st centuary in 2, the history of the London Rubber Company in 3, ..... |

No matter how much of a pop culture anorak you are, you still have to get a reasonable score in general knowledge too. Of course "dumbing down" is relative - you tend to find the entertainment forms of the powerful never come in for such criticism. |

Mastermind is the only quiz show I'll watch. Don't think it's dumbed down at all. Nor does it resort to the level of, say, the Weakest Link. |

If there is a tie at that point, then the one with the fewest passes wins. This is a great system for a 'decider', as, if you pass, you get the next question. If you give a wrong answer, you get the correct answer, then the next question. This means that 'passing' gives you more time, to answer a greater number of questions. Giving a deliberate wrong answer reduces your time, but increases your chance if scores are tied. Nigel (who prefers University Challenge) |
