Tech: Message search not working right

Subject: Tech: Message search not working right
From: Nick

There seems to be a problem when doing a search on mudcat at the moment. On the returns from a search the Thread link links to the right thread but the Message link goes somewhere else entirely - or at least it does on my machine :)

Can you give us an example of the mistake?

GO to Lyrics and Knowledge search and type in - learning lyrics -

It returns a load of things the first of which is:

0.7742 - Thread - Message - RE: Lyr Req: dear matilda - Mar 23 2004 1:22PM -   steve in ottawa

Click on Thread and it takes you to:

Lyr Req: Dear Matilda / Dear Mathilda

which is correct.

If, however, you click on Message it will take you to:

User Name Thread Name Subject Posted
[PM] Naemanson News From Guam (1029* d) RE: News From Guam 11 Feb 04

which is not right.

Suggests there is an Index problem in the database

This is a known issue since "the great crash" a month or so ago - and Max is working on it when he can squeeze out the time. His estimate was about 75 hours to fix the various issues due to the crash and corruption of the database and so far has had the time to do about half of that.

No problem - it was an observation rather then a wish or criticism

no preoblem from this side either - just wanted to let you and anyone else reading that it is a known issue and being worked on.

(knee-jerk reaction as I work a help-desk fulltime)
