Help - Accordion tuner/services wanted

From: Rockhen

(2nd time of trying to start this but hope I've done it right this time...)Does anyone know of someone who can tune and service piano accordions in the (North)Lincolnshire area? Mine is getting a bit in need of the odd note tuning and I can't find anyone, although I did find one chap who said he could do it....
When i took it round, he plonked my accordion, forcefully, onto a workbench covered in oil and woodshavings and very large hammers...so i 'remembered' that i would need it the next day after all... Don't ask me why, but I had just lost a little confidence in his ability to treat my accordion with the care I wanted for it!

It is a Hohner accordion and only a basic model but is mine and I rather like it.

I always take my boxes over to Paul Flannery in Cleckheaton, who is very good, and very reasonable. PM me if you would like his number.

ps Sounds like you made a good decision. Wish I could think that fast in situations like that!

Whe you get it tuned, get it welded, preferably to the back of a bus.

PM means 'personal message ' it's like email for mudcat members only, go to your personal page and follow the instructions.

I'll send you one, Rockhen, and then you should see it appear up at the top of the screen.

You should report this man to the R.S.P.C.P.A. And look on the right hand side of a persons name when they leave a message on a thread you will see PM. Click on this and you will see the name of the person come up on the screen, write your message and send it. Only the person you have PMed can read it.

Above the BS line, eric the red, instrument abuse is not allowed.

BTW, eric (tr), I saw Bubbles, your accordion repair guy and seamstress yesterday. He said he wants you call him and let him know if you want your middle initial included in the rhinestone signature on your red and gold mother of toilet seat polka accordion, and also whether you want the crushed velvet accordion case lining to match your purple cape, or your flamingo pink one with the matching tiara. He said please call asap.

Well done Carole, I was sure I told him I wanted sequins on everything.
I called him a sap but he just told me to go away.

Oh no! Someone tell this guy...sequins are so OUT this summer...most of us Planet accordia enthusiasts have gone for the silver space-age look... The cases just lend themselves to high-tech effects doncha know...?

Hi Gerry, my real name is Dave, I haven't been to Whitby for a few years but I used to go every year, we both used to go to Tom Napper's workshops, and you and other ' yellowbelly's ' stopped over a fish shop.
I play mandolin and tenor banjo [ badly ]

If I ever get there again I'll by you a pint.

Dave

I've been to Whitby too, but more importantly than that, I had to get an accordion thread off of the unlucky number of hits.

Dave Jolly of the Jollybox in Northampton (www.jollybox.co.uk) is ok about repairing or re-tuning piano accordians although he'll probably try to sell you a melodian instead.

ooops, i stand corrected, sorry! was copying spelling from the message before (cop out/passing the buck lol!) I wouldn't mind a melodEon either ... we are a bit in the habit of collecting instruments at our house so what's one more instrument, eh?!
