Good Pics Giok.

Now what was it I was singing when you took the photos that I am in?

I think it was the Friday Lunchtime session wasn't it?

As a matter of recod the four guys doing the Barbershop Harmony are 'Four Chords Sake' and have been singing at Sidmouth for ever , it seems .

Nice one of the Bedford session. That's me with the guitar sitting next to Dan the fiddle player. Hope you enjoyed the sounds GIOK.

You know I looked at the Bedford session photos and recognised most of the folk in there and was trying to work out where I was at that time, then I notice that I'm the huge object right in the foreground with his back to the camera! (Longish hair, dark blue t-shirt)

I have my photos uploaded at:

Nice photos but Sidmouth looks very empty.

Even The Bedford has room to swing a cat.

Were the photos taken at dawn or were there just not many people in Sidmouth this year?

Not your fault John. Not your fault at all.

Sidmouth was far quieter this year during the week and many residents seemed to prefer it that way (wrongly in my view).

Talking with some of the shopkeepers and publicans since they have said their trade was not as good as usual during the Folk Festival but was still better than they were expecting.

The Bedford still did well as did hostelries hosting sessions but others were much quieter than normal.

The general feeling in the town is one of smug contentment that Sidmouth has still made plenty of money without having to 'suffer' such a large invasion of 'folkies' this year.

Any opinion poll would probably show support for the Folk Week continuing at the 2005 level but hostility towards any return to pre-2005 levels.

A pity in my view. I'm one of those who would welcome a return to a full-blown international Folk Festival but I fear I'm in a minority now and I guess I've just got to accept it.

I wonder whether Steve is getting the same feedback around the town. I haven't seen him recently to ask.
