Sure it isn't something like roussir (to singe, to brown by cooking) as in perhaps Browning the Mutton? Rosalee du Mouton wouldn't translate as Good Morning, Rosalee. Is the waltz in question French, Quebecois, Cajun or Acadian? |

My guess is that this person is referring to "Rosalie du Bon Matin" (I'm not sure of the spelling, I'm not a French speaker), which is indeed a French waltz. It was recorded in the thirties (or thereabouts) by a band led by an Auvergne musician named Martin Cayla who made numerous 78's. These may be avaliable in reissue. My copies are from dubbed cassettes of friends. This band became quite popular in Paris I'm told, because of the "country" style they employed, which was unlike the more refined style in vogue at the time. (Not unlike today) Cayla was a flamboyant character who whooped and hollered while they played, and the recordings are quite enjoyable, although many of the tune titles are hard to figure out because of the regional dialect.
