where to buy blueridge guitars back east

We are heading for a fast trip from the Midwest to eastern PA - Hazleton, Lebanon, etc - then, on our way home, loop down through Baltimore & DC metroplex, nearby VA, then back to the Midwest. We'll be on I-70 most of the way & probably the more scenic I-68 part of the way back. We won't have a lot of time for shopping, but.. Anybody reccomend a good place to shop for "Blueridge" guitars? I reckon Mudcatters will know if anybody does.

Thanx, BK

Thanx for the links & I'll certainly look at them; I was hoping some 'catters might name some outlets from personal experience. Here in the midwest most stores have only a few Blueridge guitars to try out (or, more often, none) & the variability in sound is quite striking. The best of the newer "all solid wood" models are quite good indeed - you can think you have a vintage guitar in your hands; The remainder are mediocre to poor.

Thanx, BK

BK,

I went to the Saga website that "openmike" lists above. My favorite guitar dealer, Appalachian Bluegrass in Catonsville, MD is listed. They are just off the I-695, the Baltimore Beltway. I don't know if they have any Blueridge guitars in stock. They are very reputable and very friendly. A good place to buy a guitar. You can PM me if you want more information.

I have bought two blueridge guitars from these folks. the guitars both play and sound great as described in other threads. The shop and owner seem fine and the prices are comparable to the internet.

One of the guitars has developed an issue where the two piece back is separating from the binding, I believe it to be a humidity issue and not necessarily a quality issue, but I don't know for sure. Certainly the workmanship is exemplary for the price.

Thanks folks.

Roger; I'll try to stop at Appalachian. They were always friendly & helpful back when we lived in Colesville, tho prices usually not that exciting. I may also stop at the place down the street if they're still in business. They're both not far off my intended path of travel (down hwy 29/Colesville road).

Fortunato; Where is culpepper, VA?

Will try to check this thread 1 more time in am before we leave.

Yesterday I could not get into this site. My browsers all gave a message to the effect that I was rejected by mudcat.org. How Freudian...

Again, Thanks, BK

Yeah, BK, Bill's Music House is just down the street from ABG. Also, just across the street is a used guitar dealer. You never know what they will have hanging on the wall. Have a safe and productive trip.

When was the first Blueridge guitar made? Where?
Does anyone have a general history of Blueridge models? Nothing on the Saga site. Looking for photos.

Thanks
Jeff
