Chord Req: Going to the West

Subject: Chord Req: Going to the West
From: GUEST,Roger

I have had a bit of a web search, and while I can find the lyrics in digitrad and elsewhere, I can't find the chords. Can anyone help. My search has not been helped by some bloke called Moby with a similarly titled song, that most searches lead to.

Any info on the song as well would be much appreciated, (I've ready the existing threads).

Thanks for any help

R

By George you're right--no chords to be found. Some one will probably post them here by-and-by. If not, join Mudcat so you can pm Fortunato. I know he and his lovely wife perform this one.

Many thanks for your help.

Not sure what pm-ing Fortunato means, but will look into joining as am big Mudcat fan, it always restores my faith in humanity.

Janie and Peace, thanks again.

Roger. When you have membership, it allows you to message--via the Mudcat--other members. They in turn can message you back. Kinda like e-mail. If you then have a message waiting it will show at the top of the screen when you are logged on to the 'cat. You can click that and --hey, join and you'll get the hang of it really quickly.

Hope you do.

I've only heard the "Finest Kind" version of this - and love it - and want to learn it - so chords would really be appreciated by me too!!!

Cheers! R-J

I don't understand the problem. The chords are just there. Can't you hear them? It's not like the song had any argumentative 13ths or something in it. It's a 3-chorder.

Tell me where I can listen to it and I'll pop the chords in for Roger.

I'm Going to the West

You say you will not go with me
And turn your eyes away.
You say that we can ne'er agree
No matter though I say
I'm going to the West.

I have NO idea what all that stuff is, but maybe someone who does could explain. I am guessing the melody is in there. (My ignorance, not the posters.

Still looking for those chords.

Midchuck I thought I'd posted reply to you that I cannot recognise chords whatsoever, (its an affliction).

Anyone out there to translate the stuff that Bruce O had posted previously?

THanks, as ever, to all

R

I will do one chorus here with the chords, the chords for the verses are the same. The arrangement is Jody Stechlers.

D
You say you will not go with me
       A                      D
And turn your eyes away
                     A          G
You say that we can 'ner agree
                D
Although I say
      A                D
I'm going to the west

Cheers, Chance

Hi Roger. As a bluegrasser, I tend to play in key of G. just a simple 3 chorder as stated by fortunato. but I use G D C. Try listening to Laurie Lewis and her bluegrass pals, the album.
                   Cheers Geoff

It'd great in open G too. I got it from a Canadian couple on Frank Hennesseys prog a few years ago.
Steve Tilson has just recorded it on his last album too.
