27 Sep 05 - 02:45 AM (#1571249) Subject: Music next weekend-UK From: MBSLynne Sorry....there is already a thread about this, but I thought perhaps people weren't reading it because it was just about a regular session. This is about the North West Leicestershire Quarter session, which, this time around, is for a full weekend. There aren't many other festivals and so on this coming weekend, so if you are looking for something to go to....come and sing, play or just listen with us!! We have camping, but please contact us if you want it, don't just turn up expecting there to be space. The pub has good cider (Old Rosie) and good beer (so I'm told) For further information Pm me. |
27 Sep 05 - 06:18 AM (#1571337) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Sorry..wasn't awake properly when I posted that. It's in the Turk's Head in Donisthorpe, about three miles from Ashby de la Zouch. The pub doesn't do food but there are two pubs in the village that do. Love Lynne |
27 Sep 05 - 06:21 AM (#1571338) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Damn! I'm not doing a very good job of this! There will be sessions from 8-12 Friday evening, from 12-4 Saturday lunch time, from 8-11.30 Saturday evening and 12+ Sunday lunch time if there's still anyone around to do it! Love Lynne |
27 Sep 05 - 09:31 AM (#1571446) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: alanww Well Lynne, you are such a smooth talker... You have persuaded Sandy & me! Who else is likely to come? In order that we don't feel too guilty that we are having a rather sedentary weekend, what about a short guided walk around the village at, say, 10.30 am on the Saturday? And to be really cheeky, how about a cream tea workshop at your house at 4 pm on the Saturday afternoon? We could bring our own scones, jam & cream and even tea bags! "One day in October, neither drunken, nor sober ...!" Alan |
29 Sep 05 - 02:38 AM (#1571849) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Great Alan!! Both those ideas seem cool to me! Since Ted and I started the village local history group, a guided walk around the village could be knowledgably done, though I say it myself! We used to have a soup and bread session on the Saturday afternoon at our house, but I haven't had time to make the requisite soup and bread this time....sorry!! So...eveyone else.....add to the programme...guided walk around the village at 10.30am Saturday and some sort of cream tea or other food workshop onj Saturday afternoon at 4.30!! At the moment, I'm not totally sure who is coming, though Katie and Bob (DG&D) will be here. And Emma B probably. Likely all the locals who were here last time you came. Love Lynne |

02 Oct 05 - 03:13 PM (#1574196) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Well we have just finished the Quarter session weekend...it was good. Not sure if we will do a weekend again...not in that pub anyway. It was too loud and noisy in the bar and quite hard work to sing. Thanks to everyone who came...... Love Lynne |
02 Oct 05 - 07:01 PM (#1574323) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: Emma B Thanks to you Lynne and Ted for the hospitality and the soup!.......need sleep....... |
03 Oct 05 - 03:35 PM (#1574849) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MuddleC Thanks to the Good Witch of the West for a right royal do. Who needs a pit-bull around to control the natives when you've got Lynne??!! It was indeed a memorable weekend and thanks to everyone who sang or played, and indeed listened! The only problems that occurred were broken strings and several infringements of the folk music code, but the voices made me do it... Shady lady emptied the jelly bean machine and I will never forget that special rendition of Benjamain Bowmaneer in several keys at once, but not neccesarily on the same bunch. If you ever get lost in Donisthorpe, Lynne is now the offical directions giver, can't miss her at the head of the 'folkie crocodile'. Thanks again for a memorable weekend, one which was very special for me, must go, my nails need painting....... |
03 Oct 05 - 04:01 PM (#1574877) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Thanks to everyone who came. Three tents in the garden and the house full of people was fun even apart from the singing and playing. The guided walk on Saturday morning was good, and I believe the nail-painting workshop, ably run by ShadyLady, was appreciated. The locals were noisy, but enjoyed it too...even joining in. In fact one of the most 'interesting' bits of the weekend was a local who could only be persuaded to sing when the landlord put up the karaoke screen and handed him the microphone! Not folk perhaps, but it WAS funny! Love Lynne |
06 Oct 05 - 06:57 AM (#1576977) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: alanww Thanks Lynne. Sandy & I enjoyed many things, including the walk and the soups & cream tea workshop. Any soup still left? You seemed to make enough for the whole of the Middle Bar! See you soon, I hope. "... call away your anchor!" Alan |
06 Oct 05 - 10:16 AM (#1577007) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Yes....some in the freezer. Shall I bring it to Banbury instead of chocolate?? Love Lynne |
06 Oct 05 - 10:30 AM (#1577019) Subject: RE: Music next weekend - North West Leicestershire From: Emma B Instead? BTW the dark chocolate covered pickled green chillis have just come off the production line......are you brave enough?? |
