BS: Why Liberals Frail

Seem to be a lot more liberals among frailing and clawhammer style banjo players than among three-finger pickers. Your thoughts?

And, yes, this is a copycat thread, but unlike the thread it's copycatting I haven't simply provided links to several opinion pieces without giving you any idea why you would want to read them.

A two-step in the right direction.

I suspect Bill Monroe used to shoot any banjo pickers who didn't play...and think.... right...(Scruggs style Bluegrass)*grin* Drove 'em to hide behind the barn and play surreptitiously and think in funny ways. Thank goodness!

I cannot refute your thesis. Brilliant observation, in fact. Every frailer I know is left-leaning.

And though I could, at one time, frail pretty well, I no longer play my banjo at all -- which show me nicely as the independent thinker I am.

On the other hand, both frailers and three-finger players use both right and left hands.

I am a complete frailure as a banjo player.

But I am inclined toward severely constrained liberalism, politically -- that is, liberalism with a severe respect for individual responsibility and self-determination.

Stringbean was a clawhammer player, and he was with Monroe before Scruggs was--and my recollection is that Earl leans a bit to the left--For that matter, our own dear departed Rick Fielding was a Scruggs-style picker and a left-leaner--All told though, I wouldn't wear a Kerry button to a Bluegrass Festival--
