From: GUEST,jose alberto Hi , I´ll buy a new guitar next month and have been thinking about which one should be the best option.I´ve already got a Taylor, 6 strings, and a resophonic(Johnson).As I like to play more acoustic blues and fingerstyle and I´m really in doubt , among so many models, a Martin?, or a cheaper model (cost/benefit), a Stella(tradition). As I like to play more acoustic blues and fingerstyle and I�m really in doubt , among so many models, a Martin? If you can find one, I would strongly suggest trying a Martin 000-15S. This is a 000-size (substantially smaller than a dreadnought, which many people now seem to think of as the "standard" size, but still fairly big), 12-frets to the body, slothead, made entirely of solid mahogany, including the top. It's one of Martin's cheaper models (which doesn't mean it's cheap, by any means, but you should get a new one for under a thousand US, or used down as low as 600) and I've seen a lot of good things written about it by blues pickers. From: Richard Bridge If you really want a blues sound, try the ladderframe Gibsons, preferably old, but if you can't get an old one, try the Robert Johnson endorsement model - but don't expect a modern guitar sound, it will be blues sound. The only way really is to try. And be prepared to listen blind too. |

When you buy, have the right balance of playability, tone and timbre, durability, and appearance to suit you. Remember that the appearance is somewhat like the automobile's colour in that it matters nought when you're going 130km/hr or are being broadsided by a truck. Unless you want a simple backup axe, don't buy one that sounds like your other(s), but one that compliments you and your desired sound. Peace, Mooh. |

Is something wrong with this picture...? If you want a more woody blues sound, just for variety, there's no need to spend much money. But a Taylor should be versatile enough to play blues on. Instead, why not get something that's different from the other two, like a 12-string? Plenty of good blues players used them. And that'll give you an instrument with a completely different tonal repertoire, rather than something that's just *slightly* different. Graham. |

If you want something different, give these a try. Second hand ones appear now and then at your price point. I paid $1300 for mine.
