Not every lawyer is crooked. Most of those I know are really decent human beings. My wife, for instance.

Lawyers represent their clients. Because a lawyer represents a child rapist or a scum-sucking corporate embezzeler in no way means that the lawyer is either one. There are crooks and shysters, granted, but I can recount the same among public librarians and even -- yes! -- among folkies and folksingers.

I wish that we could understand that....

I'd heard about this, yesterday, but didn't know the details of who he was or anything. Thank you, Midchuck, for letting us know.

I have always been glad of a good lawyer when going through divorce, child-custody, etc. They have stood me in good stead.

My condolences,

kat

Proof, if any were needed, that jokes about stereotypes are the epitome of bad taste.

A good, brave human being sacrifices everything he has to give in the attempt to help another human being in distress. His family and friends, and indeed all of us should be proud that our species produces so many like him.

Not too surprising that he should have acted as he did, as his professional life was in all likelihood devoted to the same principles that prompted him to dive into that river.

Courage is not the property of only certain occupations, careers or jobs. He was a brave man who also happened to be a lawyer.
