Time to trade off your car when it costs more to fill it up with gas than the car is worth

Vermonters have been dealing with that situation with our trucks for years now.

Be careful, Louie Roy. That Hupmobile may be worth more than you think!

As I mentioned in the 'Gas Price' thread I'm trading in the Suby for a mule and clapboard wagon .... hay and oats are still pretty cheap these days.

Well, I'm not trading my van because I can't run my business (selling pottery at weekend art/craft shows) without it. But, a lot of the shows I do are about a two-hour drive from home and I'm finding myself much more prone toward springing for a motel room on Saturday night instead of driving home and going back again on Sunday morning. It's reached the point where a 300 mile round trip costs as much as a night at a motel.

Well Louie, a hen don't weigh much more than 4 or 5 pounds so the mileage oughta' be pretty good and the things will run on chicken feed! Sorry for blowin' your joke.......Hope you don't leave in a huff! But if you do I have a nice '49 Huff 2 door sedan you can have cheap!!!

I almost fell for it! I almost asked what a 1936 Henway was, but I searched Google first and figured it was some figment or strange axe.**bg**

HeyaLouiedarlin'...if it runs and it's paid for who cares how much the gas is? Americans need to pay their way...we use something like 90% of the world's oil, but have never paid our share at the gas pump. I know it gets tough on the budget, but it may also prompt more efficiency from car owners and makers alike.

Ah, gezzwat, guys? I suspected that was a "what's a henway" setup, but just for the heck of it I googled, and found a couple of old Henway trucks.
