BS: Dick Cheney and I

Back in Oct. 2004 Dick Cheney had $241,000 and change invested in Halliburton in the form of stock options.
Today that $241K is worth over 8 million dollars with the new unbid Katrina and Rita contracts.

I invested $420K in a cash real estate transaction back in Oct. 2004.
If I had bought preferred Halliburton stock back in 2004 I would have a sum of nearly 14 million dollars.

I did not invest in Halliburton because of the immorality regarding war profiteering.

At this point I am afraid that I made the wrong choice at least as far as the econmoic security of my family and friends is concerned. Maybe if you were presented with those circumstances you might find there is a little Dick Cheney in you as well.

Don't forget, Donuel, Cheney has had the ability to manipulate that stock. Its unlikely that if you had invested in Halliburton, you would have the same power as Cheney. Thats the reason there are conflict of interest laws. Anyway you look at it, he has the power.

The decision is not whether you wish to invest ethically. If Cheney had ethical investments, they too would do well. He would make sure of that.

Anyone can choose to ride Cheney's coattails but whether or not that stock will stand the test of time is anybody's guess. Since most of the wealth is paper only, anything could happen and you can bet that if and when other stockholders lose, Cheney will not.

He is an unethical scoundrel and manipulator.

True
and I forgot that his stock option includes the option to buy Hal stock at incredibly decreased prices so my 14 million dollar figure might only be 2 million.

One could have ethically bought euros 3 years ago and made even more $ by this time.

I think it should be "Dick Cheney and me" to be grammatically correct.

I could have bought $241K of Haliburton in October '04 and last month it would have been worth $480K, but this month it is plunging. I could have bought $241K of Haliburton in October '00 and suffered a huge loss through most of Cheney's tenure in Washington, until last spring.

Lautenberg's Congressional testimony said that Cheney's 241K Halliburton stock options ballooned to 8 million mostly due to the recent Katrina unbid contracts.

Ya, it's too bad Cheney doesn't profit from the options. I would love to see him make more money :)

Truly amazing that people would be running with a story that is also put up on conspiracyplanet.com , and take it seriously.

I would throw this out though. Since you feel so strongly that there is a conflict of interest. And you also believe that Cheney is manipulating the stock. Then there is a simple solution to this conundrum.

Sell all of your assets and purchase a 3 year flex call or 3 year flex sell puts. Take your arbitrage profits and donate them to your favorite liberal cause (minus a tidy little proft for yourself of course).

Let's see some of these slanderers put their money where their mouths are :)
