15 Oct 05 - 05:05 AM (#1583557) Subject: Canadian Trad Song Conference From: GUEST,Jon Bartlett The Canadian Society for Traditional Music will hold its Conference and Annual General Meeting this year at Douglas College, New Westminster, BC (just S of Vamncouver) 4-6 November 2005. The event is open to all. Friday night opens the weekend with a concert entitled "The World Turned Upside Down" and featuring performers Fraser Union, Jim Edmondson, the Solidarity Notes Labour Choir and Jon Bartlett & Rika Ruebsaat. The Vancouver Morris Men will present a seasonal Mumming Play. Saturday will be given over to the presentation of papers, panels and workshops, on such topics as "The Supernatural in Child Ballads" and "The Northwest Tradition of Vernacular Song, from pre-Joe Hill to Post-Raging Grannies". These will be followed by a banquet and a party for delegates. Sunday will feature the Annual General Meeting of the Society.
