DUP leader Ian Paisley was elevated to the Privy Council, adding Right Honourable to his titles ahead of Rev Doctor.

Downing Street announced that the Queen was "pleased to approve" the lifetime appointment and have Dr. Paisley join the ranks of her innermost advisors.

He is not a doctor. Paid for this worthless piece of paper. Well when you watch that piece of old film in Oxford university of him breaking up the bread used in the Catholic church and listened to the hate come out of the bastards mouth for 40 years tells you were Liz Winsor stands.

A privy is an outdoor toilet. Why does the Queen need a council for such items?

You folks in the UK have strange customs.

He's been wanting his own title for years, but time is now getting on for old Ian.

But as there's no shite without flies, I would love to know what he has been required to deliver in return...

... cos this one didn't come out of the blue...

Another reason for supporting the ERA. The English Republican Army, that is.

Don't you mean "for" and not "to"? That Queen Liz's advisors have selected wallpaper with squiggles and things for her privy? Or is that the toilet paper?

So he will be Right Honourable. BUT, not Left Honourable. Seems apt, IMO.

"The Queen has been pleased to approve Ian Paisley be sworn of Her Majesty's most honourable Privy Council," a Downing Street statement said.

The DUP leader is entitled to the status as the leader of the fourth largest political party in Parliament."

So it would appear he got it because of his position as a leader of a political party, not because of who he is or what he says.

"Other Northern Ireland members of the Privy Council include Lord Molyneaux and David Trimble."

"Traditionally, the Privy Council was a body of advisers to the British Sovereign.

As the power of the monarch declined the cabinet replaced the council as the senior decision-making body.

The council's duties are now largely formal and ceremonial.

The full council only comes together on two occasions: when the monarch dies and the council proclaims the accession of their heir; and when a monarch intends to marry."

The appointment seems to have been automatic, to a body that is ceremonial and without any power - So what's the big deal?

As stated above the Privy Council does have one very powerful role - they have to approve the accession to the throne by a new sovereign. Tony Benn, who is also a Privy Councillor has said in the past he intends to veto the accession of Chaz to the throne (providing he outlives the Queen) and so set the UK on the road to becoming a republic.

Hooray! Long live Tony Benn!

So this was an automatic, and therefore unavoidable appointment, to a postion that doesn't matter. Even if it did, I'm sure the Queen could politley ignore him. After all, what dou you think she's had to do with Blair?

Heck, I sort of suspect that shortly the Republic will be able to buy back the Six Counties and that will be that.

The privy is the best place for him.

See it for what it really is. The big fool can't see it. His police force were awarded the George Cross, a few months later they received the Dear John letter to say they were now scrap. This is to take him out of front line politics. His deputy Robonson is more inclined to go into a government with the party the nationalist elected in great numbers.

I hope Paisley gets a lot more chances to open his big mouth, especially in POLITE COMPANY, then they will see him for what he is, a hate driven bigot of the HIGHEST degree.
I suppose the Queen had no choice but I still see it as insensitive to the catholic population of not only Ireland but England, Scotland and Wales as well.
Similar to her boy Charles calling his eldest William. A bit like the chief Rabbi calling his son Adolph.
A pox on all their houses.

I have made no remark about a builders yard in Balham, apart from having previously stated that I did:

A. Not know where Balham was.

AND

B. Had no knowledge of any 'builders yard' in Balham.

I do hope that that answers any questions you have relating to the matter. If not please follow the directions given by Wolfgang and conduct a super search of my posts inputing 'builders yard Balham'

Please revert with result of your research, if however, you do not, I will take it that, apart from what I have stated above, you have found no reference to me ever having mentioned Balham, or a builders yard in Balham in any other post. In which case your question will have been fully answered.
