Lyr Req: Miles and Miles

Hi

This is my first post on Mudcat. There was a song about building over California. Had some lyrics including "it goes for miles and miles/from the San Francisco Bay/it goes for miles and miles/all the way to San Jose". Also "cut down the trees/they filled up the gullies where the rivers once flowed". Can anybody identify this song for me? Thanks.

Hello, MJK. Welcome to the Mudcat. I am not familiar with the song. However, could you please tell what type of song it was; done by a male/female or group; about when did you hear it and where? Any info like that is helpful in finding/identifying songs.

Thank you.

Thanks Peace. It was a guy singing with a guitar. Standard folk song type stuff. Quite angry, sort of updated Woody Guthrie style. Someone loaned me an album with it on about 1978 or so. I can remember the tune very clearly but not most of the the words or the name of the artiste. Obviously it was an American singer.

I was in CA a few weeks ago and it reminded me of the song.

Thanks. JK.
