17 Nov 05 - 05:54 PM (#1607588) Subject: Phil Cooper/Chicago area CD release From: Phil Cooper After much encouragement from my bandmates, Margaret Nelson and Kate Early, I've released a CD titled Ballads & Sketches. It is the first recording featuring a lot of singing, as opposed to instrumental playing. Several of the ballads on the recording feature tunes that I've made up for them, sung by either Margaret or Kate. My friend Andrew Calhoun also contributes one vocal track. We're having a release concert/party this Saturday (for Chicago area mudcatters) from around 3-5 at the Rampant Lion Celtic Trader's store in Villa Park, Illinois (47 Villa, just south of St. Charles Road). Besides me, Margaret and Kate will be there. So will Andrew Calhoun and Sass! (Susan Urban and Sandy Andina). Even if you don't get my recording there's a lot of other good stuff at the Rampany Lion's (they even stock Les Barker CD's). There's more specific directions on my website www.coopernelsonearly.com Thanks! |

I hope you have a turn-away crowd and sell a ton of 'em. Folks, If you enjoy, John Renbourn, Nic Jones, Martin Carthy, I am certain Phil Cooper is a picker/player and song finder that you'll really enjoy. These folks (Phil, Margaret and Katey) travel far and wide making wonderful music. Give 'em a listen, and you'll be a fan post haste. Art |
18 Nov 05 - 12:47 AM (#1607881) Subject: RE: Phil Cooper/Chicago area CD release From: Phil Cooper Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. Yes I am singing on this more than on our usual recordings. One of the best parts of playing with talented singers like Margaret and Kate is that I can stand back and just accompany them and listen to everything. But some of these songs are ones I've enjoyed listening to for over 25 years. I think now, I can do them some justice. --Phil |
