RELIANCE No XX

From: mumblin len

I have recently acquired an instrument that looks like a Ukelele/banjo but with eight strings. I have checked it against a ukelele and a mandolin, but the scale length is shorter than either of these at approximately twelve and a half inches. The only markings on it are on the headstock as per the title of this thread.

Anyone have any ideas A;--- What it is called?
                      B;--- String gauges and tuning?

I haven't a clue myself, but I hope to restore and play this curio this winter.

Without a photo is impossible to give you an answer please search until you find a similar one on e-bay past sales, then post link:

In metric please:
entire length overall length
length of body - depth of body - body shape - body wood
length of neck - depth of neck - shape of neck - wood of neck - pegs number and style
INSIDE - Lable?

This is in the catagory of "realy stupid questions," sort of like I found a dog what type; "four legs, no balls, longish black&white?"

A twelve-and-a-half inch scale length is perfectly normal for a mandolin-banjo.
