BS: Advice sought...

I need some advice on what could be a life changing decision. I've suspected for some time now that my other half has been having it away with another bloke. The usual signs. Phone rings, I answer, someone hangs up. She started going out 'with the girls' a lot recently although when I ask which girls it is always "Just some friends from work, you don't know them".

I always look out for her taxi coming home but she always walks down the drive although I can hear a car setting off. As if she has got out of the car round the corner. Why? Is it not a taxi?
I once picked her mobile up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my other half, I don't know how to. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth but last night she went out again and I decided to check on her.

I decided I was going to hide behind the Land Rover, a 1984 County Station Wagon, which would give me a view of the whole street so I could see which car she gets out of. It was whilst crouched behind the van that I noticed some penetrating rust on the rear crossmember.

Should I use a brush and some Hammerite, or should I have it seen to professionally?

Maybe the other guy is a car repair man in which case you are sorted.

A rusty member is prima facie evidence of lack of use, and probably caused the wanderings of wife. You could try penetrating oil as a stop-gap.

Get it sand blasted first.
Hammerite will only conceal the rot that lies beneath.
P.S. If she is coming home by taxi, it will ultimately cost you more,
better by far that she arrives in the vehicle she came in!

You can get a crossmember kit. I think you already seem to have a cross member.

Face the issue squarely, no matter how cross the member; take the plunge. A penetrating solution is in order. Don't try to mix screws with nuts.

In the current climate of things, Rovers should be dispensed with...get rid of your 'rover' and get a fresh model to fulfil your needs.

"Land Rover, a 1984 County Station Wagon"

It's not an antique yet. BUT, have it tended to immediately. Land Rovers are great vehicles and very expensive to replace. As to the other matter: get your own phone you cad. BUT, place a few 900 calls on hers before you do.

Use Naval Jelly.

I though Land Rover's were made of aluminium.

Aye, the bodywork's made of 'Birmabright' aluminiom, but the chassis and crossmembers are steel, and the rear crossmember is a bugger for rusting. You can pick up a new crossmember for about £140 and weld it one, though.
Not sure if that's what Worried of Wittering wants to hear, however!

They're heavy steel for anything important...

So trade her in a new, lightweight little thing that goes like a bat out of hell, and you can really have some fun in.

Yes, she'll drink a lot, and you'll spend a fortune looking after her, but you'll be happy!

I say, don't let my missus hear you talking about trading her in for a lightweight thing that goes like a bat out of hell, or she'll have your nadgers for loom-weights!
Anyway, she drinks quite enough as it is...
